Obituary

Fulovia (Lopes) Depina, 83, of New Bedford died Friday November 15, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John J. Depina, Sr.,and daughter of the late Antonio and Carolina (Barros) Lopes.

Born in New Bedford, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mrs. Depina was a homemaker for most of her life and was later employed as a lunch aide for the New Bedford Public School Department.

Mrs. Depina was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader. She was well-known for her gift of giving. She was always available for her family, friends, and neighbors.

Survivors include 4 sons, John J. Depina, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Whitman, Richard A. Depina, Sr. and his wife Bonita of Marion, Charles W. Depina, Sr. and his wife Wendy of New Bedford, and David P. Depina, Sr. and his wife Bernadette "Bunny" of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Marion Oliveira and her husband John, Jeanne R. Depina, and Mary C. Depina, all of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph Lopes, Sr. of Randolph; a sister, Hilda Lopes of New Bedford; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late John Lopes, Theophilus Lopes, Isadore Gonsalves, Mabel Gibau, Caroline Martin, Julia Lopes, and Minnie Lopes.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday November 18, 2002 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday November 17, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
