Roger P. Mailhot, age 93, died Thursday, May 3 at his home, after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Grace E. (Burleigh) Mailhot with whom he had celebrated a 68th wedding anniversary in November, 2006.
He was born in Milford, NH, March 8, 1914, the son of the late Fred and Bernadette (Hyscette) Mailhot. Mr. Mailhot resided in N. Chelmsford for 40 years. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and supported the invasion of Sicily, Anzio and Normandy and also served in the Middle East and in China.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a construction laborer for over 30 years and was involved with the construction of Route 128.
In his spare time, Mr. Mailhot enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger A. and Joan E. (Crowley) Mailhot of North Andover; four grandchildren, David B. Mailhot and his wife April of South Berwick, Maine, Brian P. Mailhot of Hampton Beach, NH, Christopher W. Mailhot and Jamie W. Mailhot, both of North Andover; also several niece and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rita Lohnes, Lucille Gelineau, Roland and George Mailhot.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, TODAY, May 4th, from 6 to 8pm. Funeral Saturday morning with a Prayer Service to be held at 10:30am at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow.
