Nathaniel "Tango" Gonsalves, 74, of New Bedford died Thursday May 3, 2007 at Kindred Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in South Carver, the son of the late James and Mary (Reis) Gonsalves, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Gonsalves was formerly employed as a machine operator at Continental Screw Company until his retirement.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an active member of the Caroline Street Apartments Community.
Survivors include two children, Lillian Gonsalves of New Bedford and Nathaniel "Junny" Gonsalves, Jr. of Fall River; his stepmother, Janie Gonsalves of Carver; a brother, George Gonsalves of Halifax; a sister, Louise Texeira of Wareham; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the former husband of the late Lydia (Rodriguez) Gonsalves, and brother of the late Vivian Power, Joseph, John, Richard, Maurice and James Gonsalves Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
