Obituary

LEICESTER; Hazel S. (McMillan) Ivel Harris, 96, of 1075 Main St., died
Wednesday, May 2 at the Goddard Homestead Hall in Worcester, where she had
resided for the past 5 years.
She was the wife of Douglas L. Harris who died in 2001.
She leaves her son, Leonard L. Ivel and his wife Judith of Leicester, a
step-son, Stephen Harris and his wife Jean of Charlton, two
great-granddaughters, Holly C.S. Ivel of Raleigh N.C. and Robyn L. Desautels
of Rutland and three great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Leonard L. Ivel in 1975.
Born March 12, 1911 in Fall River, she was the daughter of William &
Elizabeth (Gregory) McMillan.
She was a graduate of Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing in 1933 and was a
registered nurse having worked in that profession through the early 1970's.
Hazel was a warm person who loved people and a good time. Hazel advised, "If
you have nothing good to say, say nothing". She was never without a joke and
always delighted to have company drop in for an unexpected visit. She
enjoyed reading, gardening and road trips through the North East. In her
retirement years she had occasions to visit southern California, Bermuda and
Florida with family and friends.
A funeral service will be Sunday, May 6 at 5 p.m. in MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St, Leicester. Calling hours will be Sunday prior to the
service from 3-5 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be Monday, May 7 in
Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River, [email protected].
