Zachary A. “Zack” Cheetham, 19, a lifelong resident of Norton died unexpectedly on Wednesday May 2, 2007 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 8, 1988 he was the beloved son of William E. Cheetham and Robert and Marjorie L. (Bremges) Pond all of Norton.
He grew up in Norton and had attended Elementary and Middle schools in Norton. Zack was a member of the class of 2006 at Coyle Cassidy High School in Taunton. He was currently a freshman at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA.
While growing up in Norton he was a member of Norton Youth Baseball, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. While a student at Coyle Cassidy he was a member of the tennis team and the freshman football team. At Coyle Cassidy he was also a member of the Jean Baptiste Chapter, National Honor Society, the Drama Club and Campus Ministry. Zack derived great joy in mentoring other students.
He was an avid gymnast during his middle school years, twice attending the State Tournament with Pacheco’s Gymnastics. Since June of 2006 he was a member of Saint James Lodge, AF & AM in Mansfield. An avid camper, his favorite vacation spot was Acadia National Park in Mount Desert Island, Maine where he loved to hike. He was also a member of the Starcraft Camping Club, Minuteman Chapter in Mass. He was a certified diver licensed since the age of only 12.
Zack’s greatest love was music, especially the bands The Faint, Linklin Park and Scissor Sisters. He was a proud member of B.A.G.L.Y.
In addition to his beloved parents he is survived by his devoted sisters; Barbara-Ann Cheetham of Norton and Kelley Baker and her husband Shawn of West Yarmouth. Also survived by his dear nieces Megan, Natalie and Ava Marie Baker all of West Yarmouth as well as his many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the dear grandson of the late Walter Bremges and Barbara Donahue and the late Charles and Helen Cheetham.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday May 6th from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
During visiting hours a Masonic Service will be performed by St. James Lodge at 5:45 P.M. followed by a celebration of Zack’s life at 6:00 P.M. by the Coyle Cassidy Campus Ministers.
Following the services on Sunday evening all are invited back to the family’s home at 237 East Main St. in Norton for a time of continued fellowship and to partake in refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, Zack’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to B.A.G.L.Y. P.O. Box 960814 Boston, MA 02196-0814.
