Edward F. Harrington, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Wednesday May 2, 2007 in The North End Rehabilitation Center Nursing Home in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old.
Ed was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown, where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. He enlisted into the United States Army in November of 1942. He served during World War 2 and was discharged in December of 1945. He worked as a folk-lift operator for over 30 years at Winde/McCormick Lumber Company in Charlestown. Following his retirement from Winde/McCormick Lumber Company, He worked for 20 years at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown as a mail clerk.
Ed is the beloved husband of the late Agnes L. (Haggerty) Harrington. He is the devoted father of Mary A. Harrington of Charlestown, Edward Harrington of East Sandwich and Deborah Harrington of Wakefield. He is the loving grandfather of Fernando and Isabella Harrington. He is the beloved brother of James Harrington of West Roxbury, Catherine Crowley of Charlestown and the late Margaret Harrington.
Ed's Funeral will be held on Saturday May 5, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Ed will be held on Friday May 4, 2007 from 3 to 6 p.m. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
