Obituary

Eileen White, a retired head clerk in Medford’s City Clerk’s Office, died Monday after a long illness, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Center. She was 79.

Born and raised in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (Hayes) Monahan. A Medford resident since her marriage to Harold White in 1951, Eileen worked as a clerk at the Boston offices of Dun and Bradstreet. After her children grew, Eileen worked as chief clerk in the office of the Medford City Clerk. Eileen was also active at the former Sacred Heart Parish in Medford’s Hillside neighborhood.

She was the beloved wife of Harold E. White, retired Detective Lieutenant, MPD. She was a devoted mother to Carol Harris and her husband Jimmy, Larry White and his wife Lisa, Kevin White and his wife Teresa, all of Medford and the late Judy McLaughlin. She was a dear mother-in-law to Michael McLaughlin. She was a loving grandmother to Kelly, Jason, Shawn, Erin, Joey, Jennifer, Brendan and great grandmother to Justin. She was the sister of Kay St. Hillaire and Eleanor Farrell.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Eileen’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
