Mark Eugene Struss, 55, of Tifton, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton, Illinois with burial to follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hampton, Illinois. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2007, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. in East Moline, Illinois.
Mr. Struss was born on January 18. 1952 in Rock Island, Illinois and was the son of Rollin Struss and Joann Nice Struss, both of East Moline, Illinois. He married Donna Thompson on November 9, 1974 in Peoria, Illinois. He had worked as Director of Plant Operations at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Mark enjoyed cooking and working with plants. He had been a member of the Tifton Choral Society.
In addition to his parents, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Katharine and Michael Stuart of Whitestown, Indiana; one granddaughter, Jordan Grace Stuart of Whitestown, Indiana; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gail Earl of Moline, Illinois and Donna and Lowell Jacobsen of Altoona, Iowa; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Janet Struss of Rock Island, Illinois; and nieces and nephews, David Struss of Rock Island, Illinois and Alyssa and Kyle Jacobsen of Altoona, Iowa.
