TEWKSBURY - Susana (Callanta) Laurel, age 76, a former resident of the Phillipines, died
Monday, April 30, at the Tewksbury Hospital, where she had been in residence since 2001. She
was the wife of the late Rodolfo Laurel.
She was born in the Philippines, a daughter of the late Eduardo and Fidela (Victorio) Callanta.
She lived there the greater part of her life where she served as president of the Rice Millers
Association. She also served as a director for the Daughters of Isabela in the Philippines. She
had lived in the U.S. since 1998.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Alma Domanowski and her husband Mark of
Lowell; three brothers, Macedonio Callanta of IL, Eduardo Callanta Jr. and Ramon Callanta both
of Manila, Philippines; three sisters, Adoracion Bergado of CA, Fidela Marcelo of OH, and
Elizabeth Callanta of Ontario, Canada; one granddaughter, Amanda Domanowski of Lowell; and
numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends in the U.S., Canada and her native Philippines.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, May 4, in St. William’s Church. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Tewksbury Hospital, Patient
