Obituary

OAKHAM-William A. Sampson, 84, of 122 New Braintree Road died Monday, November 11th in Clark Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. He leaves 3 sons, Kirk R. Sampson with whom he lived, Jay C. Sampson of Eddyville, OR and Gary M. Sampson of Oakham; a sister, Kathleen “Kay” Parsons of Northhampton; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A sister, Muriel “Moody” Fenno predeceased him.

He was born in Clinton, Connecticut the son of William P. and Florence (Maynard) Sampson. He graduated from South High School. He studied chemistry at the University of Alabama for three years. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Sampson worked for Morgan Construction Co. as a printer & photographer for 10 years, retiring in 1986. He previously worked for Crompton Mills as an offset printer, for many years. He enjoyed oil painting and small appliance repair and loved photography.

No services are planned. Cremation will take place and scattering of the ashes will be at the convenience of the family. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, Massachusetts, 02346.
