Janine Byron-DeLisle, 45, of Southern Pines died on Saturday April 28, 2007 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina after a long and determined battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of George DeLisle, a native of Taunton, to whom she was wed to on April 30, 1988.
Born on March 12, 1962 she was a loving daughter of James and Joan (Plapis) Byron Sr. of Mansfield.
Janine grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield schools. She was a 1980 graduate of Mansfield High School. She received her BA in Psychology from Keuka College and her master degree in Vocational Counseling from Assumption College in Worcester.
Along with her husband she helped to run there family business Café Iano in downtown Southern Pines.
First diagnosed on September 12, 2001 with cancer, from the onset, she was determined to fight with all her strength and not give in to the pain and sacrificies she endured. She helped others by doing volunteer work with the Healing Garden, a program for cancer survivors.
Her family was the most important thing in her life and she was the proudest anytime she and her sons were together. Janine enjoyed volunteering at her son’s schools and was also an avid reader. She and her family had made there home in North Carolina since 2003 and was formerly of Attleboro and a native of Mansfield.
In addition to her beloved husband and loving parents she is survived by her proud and devoted sons; Ian DeLisle age 12 and Noah age 10 both of Southern Pines. Her dear brothers and sister; Dr. John Byron and his wife Kathy of Pinehurst, NC, James Byron, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Ellisville, MO, Jeffrey Byron and his wife Shirley of Pinehurst, NC and Jennifer Colby and her husband Kevin of Fort Wayne, IN. Her mother and father- in -law George and Joan (Ellis) DeLisle of Taunton. Also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial visitation, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday May 4th from 6-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Janine’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to either the First Health Hospice 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or The Healing Garden P.O. Box 145 Harvard, MA 01451.
