Emma (Pina) Cruz, 83, of Acushnet died April 26, 2007 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Antonio Cruz.
Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Manuel and Rosie (Silvia) Pina, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Acushnet 2 years ago.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Cruz was formerly employed as a government inspector at Frionor Kitchens for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, René C. Carr of Acushnet; a son, Joseph M. Cruz of New Bedford; a sister, Rose Moniz of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Antonio Cruz, Jr., and sister of the late Louis Pina, Joseph Pina, John Pina, Manuel Pina, Peter Pina and Albert Pina.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Tuesday, May 1st at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
