Obituary information
Anthony J. Sgro died Friday at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. Born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Frank and Lena (Bruno) Sgro, he was a graduate of Brockton High School and remained a lifelong resident of Brockton. Anthony was an Army veteran of WWII, and had been employed as a ship fitter for over 35 years at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown. He enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands.
He is survived by one daughter Jean Hurley; one son Frank Sgro; six grandchildren Cynthia, Michael, Christopher, Jennifer, Rachael and Maureen; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a sister Fannie Mazzoli. He was the husband of the late Kathleen T. “Kay” (MacDonald) Sgro and brother of the late Angie Gianunzio and Frederick Sgro.
