Elinor H. (Haines) Ward died on Thursday April 26th at her home. She was 94 years old. Born in Brockton MA She was a graduate of Leominster High School Class of 1930 and Simmons College Class of 1935. Mrs. Ward was a very active in Simmons Alumni and fundraising. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Needham for 68 years and sang in the church choir for over 60 years. Elinor was a former member of the League of Women Voters and the Needham Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and poetry. The beloved wife of the late Humphrey R. Ward Sr., she was the loving mother of John S. Ward of Needham, Carol W. Diedering of Fairport, NY and the late H. Randolph Ward Jr. and Richard T. Ward. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church Chapel 1132 Highland Ave Needham on Tuesday May 1st at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hour will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Monday from 5-7 PM. Interment at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Elinor’s name may be made to the Simmons College Scholarship Fund, 300 The Fenway, Boston MA 02115.
