Worcester – Roland O. Blanchard, 91, of Worcester died on Friday, April 27 in St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Blanchard’s wife Evelyn E. (Cusson) Blanchard died in 1987. He is survived by a son Roland P. Blanchard and his wife Norma of Leicester; a daughter Susan J. Olson and her husband Harold of Auburn; a brother Francis Blanchard of CA; a sister Helen Cane of Worcester; 4 grandchildren Bridget Olson of Washington D.C., Amanda Olson of Denver, CO, Paul Hines and Marie Ritacco both of Auburn; 5 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Blanchard was born in Worcester son of Valdimir and Cordelia (Malhoit) Blanchard and is predeceased by a sister Rita Gelinas.

He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the O.S.S. in Italy during World War II. Mr. Blanchard worked for the Heald Machine Company as a machinist for 35 years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Main South American Legion Post.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 1 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday, April 30 from 7 to 9 PM in the funeral home.
