Robert A. Sweatt, 50
Boston School Police Sergeant

Dateline; Mansfield, MA

Robert A. Sweatt, 50, of Mansfield died on Thursday April 26, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Pagliarulo) Sweatt to whom he was wed to on June 6, 1982.
Born in Portland, Maine on July 6, 1956 he was a loving son of Robert V. and Patricia A. (Stanhope) Sweatt of Portland, Maine.
Bob grew up in Portland. He was attended the Cathedral school in Portland from kindergarten to the eighth grade. He was a 1975 graduate of Portland High School. While in high school he was a member of the track team and was honored as being chosen a co-captain his senior year. He also had attended Northeastern University.
Mr. Sweatt was a Sergeant in the Boston School Police Department where he was known for his compassionate manner and the kindness he showed to the kids. He began his career at the McKinley Tech School in the South end of Boston where he served for 15 years. He served next at Hyde Park High School for 3 years and for the past 2 years had worked at the Boston Day and Evening Academy in Roxbury. He had formerly worked for the Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries where he met his future beloved wife Marie.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s church in Mansfield and was as former communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland where as a youth he served as an altar boy. He was a member of the Boston School Police Union and the Massachusetts Order of Fraternal Police.
An avid weight lifter, Bob enjoyed reading up on consumer reports. He loved his Dunkin Donuts coffee and had a real sweet tooth for chocolates. His family will always remember him as being a true home body who enjoyed taking on projects around the house. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 22 years.
In addition to his beloved wife of almost 25 years and his loving parents he is survived by his devoted children; Joseph R. Sweatt, Matthew R. Sweatt and Brittany A. Sweatt all of Mansfield. His dear brothers and sisters; Michael J. Sweatt and his wife Marie of Portland, Maine, Barbara S. Fleury and her husband Michel of Poland Springs, Maine, Patricia A. Sweatt of Portland, Maine, Christopher A. Sweatt and his wife Lori of Scarborough, Maine, James J. Sweatt and his wife Lisa of Windham, Maine and Corey A. Sweatt and his wife Cindy of Shapleigh, Maine. His mother-in-law Frances Pagliarulo of Roslindale. His brother in law Nicholas A. Pagliarulo and his wife Denise of Duxbury. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on both Saturday April 28th from 4-8 P.M. and on Sunday April 29th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.






Visiting hours will also be held on Tuesday May 1st from 4-8 P.M. at the Conroy-Tully- Crawford Funeral Home 172 State St. Portland, Maine.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday May 2nd in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 307 Congress St. Portland, Maine at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers Bob’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Community VNA-Hospice 10 Emory St. Attleboro, MA 02703 for all there kindness and care expressed.
