LOWELL—Aubrey Willard Stewart, 77 years old, originally from Richmond VA, died Wednesday morning, November 13th, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie (Buchinsky) Stewart, with whom he celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in April of this year.
Mr. Stewart, a Native American, was born in Richmond, VA, on March 13, 1925, one of seven children of the late Irvin and Hattie (Collins) Stewart. He later moved and was raised on the Pamunkey Reservation, in King William, VA. He was a graduate of the Cherokee Indian School, in 1943.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during World War II. After his discharge, he relocated to Philadelphia, PA., where he married his first wife, Mary Jane (DeCrisanti) Stewart, with whom he had his three children. While in Pennsylvania, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Temple University.
Mr. Stewart has resided in Lowell for the past 34 years and was employed as Vice President of Prince Packaging. After the downfall of Prince, he opened his own business, A & S Realty, which later became Cherokee Realty. He enjoyed international traveling, walking and was an avid reader of history and fiction. He was a dedicated fan of the Patriots and Red Sox, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Jackie and John Jennings, of Fair Lawn, NJ; and Regina Stewart, of Boston; a son and daughter-in-law: James and Laura Stewart, of Burlington; three brothers and four sisters-in-law: James and Theresa Stewart, of Cherry Hill, NJ; Louis and Mary Stewart, of King William, VA; Carroll and Grace Stewart, of Philadelphia, PA; and Millie Kercher, of Lowell; four grandchildren: Jed and Emily Jennings and Nicholas and Jessica Stewart.
He was the brother of the late Stanley Stewart, Jeannette Jones and Daisy Bradby.
Friends may call on Friday, November 15th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Service to be held Saturday morning, November 16th, at 9 AM at the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
