SALEM - Alfred G. “Sonny” Morin, age 65, a lifelong resident of Salem, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at his residence following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Solomon L. Morin and Jane F. (Blasczak) Morin Kulas.
A Viet Nam era Army veteran, he served from 1964 to 1966, was attached to the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armored Div. in Europe and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class.
Mr. Morin was employed for many years as a machinist, first at the United Shoe Machine Corp in Beverly and later at Maynard Plastics in Salem. For the past eight years he was employed at Home Depot in Salem.
An Avid sports fan, Sonny followed all of the Boston professional teams and especially enjoyed college basketball. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 218, Salem.
He is survived by one sister, Nancy Lewandowski of Groveland, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Walter A. Jr. & Beth Kulas of Georgetown, David D. Kulas of Danvers, Donald D. & Paula Kulas of Peabody, nieces and nephews, Jeffrey & Beth Lewandowski, Jan, Jonathan & Gregory Kulas, two aunts, Clara Byrne of Danvers, Genevieve Frederick of Salem 1 uncle, Thaddeus Blasczak of Manchester-by-The-Sea, and several cousins.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in the veterans section at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
