Alice Laverne Rutherford Dorsey, 63, of Tifton, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Nephews and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Dorsey was born on August 28, 1943 in Lenox (Colquitt County) and was the daughter of Leon C. Rutherford and Alice Mae Bennett Rutherford, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Jefferson Dorsey. She was employed in the retail industry and of the Baptist faith. She had lived in Tift County since 1962.
Ms. Dorsey is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Julian and Sandy Dorsey of Tifton, Tony and Joann Dorsey of Tifton, and Steve and Jayla Dorsey of Tifton; one brother, Ronald Rutherford of San Antonio, Texas; five sisters, Virginia Bass of Sarasota, Florida, Lee Cornelius of Hahira, Anne Harnage of Valdosta, Mary Portivent of Macon, and Patsy Murphy of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
