Hector J. Barros, Sr., 76, of New Bedford died April 24, 2007 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Anna (Gonsalves) Barros.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Louise (Costa) DeBarros, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Barros was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He was formerly employed as a supervisor in shipping and receiving at Calvin Klein for many years until retirement.
Mr. Barros was a former member of the Panthers Club and was a well known saxophonist in the Cape Verdean Community.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Hector Barros, Jr. of New Bedford; two brothers, Henry Barros and Manuel Barros, both of New Bedford; three sisters, Lucille Ramos of New Bedford, Mary Lopes of Baltimore, MD and Charlotte Ramos of Virginia; six grandchildren, Wayne Burgo, II, Jerrel Burgo, Marcel Burgo, Shane Burgo, Kylie Johnson and Jaydn Barros; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Doreen Burgo and Donna Jean Barros and brother of the late John Barros and Carol Sylvia.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, April 28th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, April 27th from 4-8 PM.
