Helen Emma Phelps Woodruff, 67, of Sycamore, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007, at Sycamore Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Johnson and Rev. Charles Underwood will officiate with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 26, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Woodruff was born on April 5, 1940 in Tift County and was the daughter of Mancy Phelps and Inez Walls Phelps, both deceased. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and had lived in Sycamore for 45 years. She had worked for nine years as manager of TG&Y in Ashburn, five years as manager of Family Dollar in Ashburn and nine years as manager of Fred's in Ashburn.
Ms. Woodruff is survived by her husband, James Arthur Woodruff, Sr. of Sycamore; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Margaret Woodruff of Tifton, and Jamie and Regina Woodruff of Sycamore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Mike Howell of Ocala, Florida, and Rhonda and Mike Hancock of Ashburn; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bobby Phelps of Tifton, Billy and Geraldine Phelps of Ashburn, and Edward and Debbie Phelps of Lagrange; one sister and brother-in-law, Cortez and Lamar Manning of Tifton; eight grandchildren, Bryan Woodruff of Fort Stewart, April Howell of Ocala, Florida, Courtney Singletary of Ocala, Florida, Logan Hancock of Ashburn, Colby Hancock of Ashburn, Devin Woodruff of Sycamore, April Luke of Tifton, and Christy Thibodeaux of Lake Blackshear; and three great grandchildren.
