Worcester- Louis J Chesna 82 of 22 Fairfax Road died November 10 in Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center following an illness.
His wife of 52 years Rita T (Piascik) Chesna died last year. Mr. Chesna is survived by a son Joseph M Chesna of Jefferson. A brother Anthony Chesna of Millbury and two sisters Phyllis Dubois of Grafton and Rita Mawdsley of Shrewsbury, several nieces and nephews. A brother John Chesna of Worcester died in 1994.He was born in Vilnius Lithuania a son of Joseph and Josephine (Zinkavich) Chesna and lived here for most of his life. He was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce. Mr. Chesna was an Army veteran of World War II and served as a Corporal with Company I, 33rd Infantry Division. He served in Trinidad.
Mr. Chesna was a wire drawer for more than 25 years at Johnson Steel Company, retiring in 1985.
He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Vilna Parish and The Lithuanian War Veterans Organization. Mr. Chesna enjoyed stamp collecting and reading.
The funeral will be held Friday November 15 from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home 33 Ward Street with a Mass at 10am in Our Lady of Vilna Church 151 Sterling Street. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery.Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8pm Thursday November 14.The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations be made to The American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham Mass. 01701.
