Maria I. Lucier, 98, formerly of 416 Union Avenue died December 6, 2001 in the St. Francis Home. She was born in Wolftown, Quebec on August 16, 1903, the daughter of Israel and Zoe (Morin) Cyr and has resided in Laconia for most of her life.
Prior to her retirement in 1965, she had been employed at Scott & Williams for many years. She had previously worked at Cormier Hosiery Mill and the Belknap Mills.
Mrs. Lucier was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. She was a member of Les Dames Canados and of the Ladies of Sacred Heart since 1965. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Valmore O. Lucier.
Family members include three daughters, Mrs. Alexander (Rita) Morin of Laconia, Mrs. Roger (Arlene) LaPlante of Spring Hills FL and Mrs. Albert (Fernande) Plizga of Santa Clarita CA; five sons, Conrad Lucier of Hobe Sound, FL, Richard Lucier of Laconia, Donald Lucier of Tilton, Victor Lucier of Saratoga Springs, NY and Edgar Lucier of Duluth, GA; 33 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; a sister, Malvina Angers of Bristol CT; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and Monday from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart church, 291 Union Ave. Monday at 11:30 AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps , Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Activities Fund, 406 Court St., Laconia NH 03246. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors.
