Willie S. Miller, Jr., 62, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, April 23, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 3 P.M., Wednesday, April 25, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Abbeville, with Rev. Ronny Griner and Alan Griner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Miller was born February 12, 1945, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Juanita Dobbins Miller and the late Willie S. Miller. He lived in the community most of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1963 and from Georgia Southwestern Technical School in Americus. Mr. Miller served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a former Diesel Mechanic for Cummins Diesel in Atlanta, Luke Oil Company in Ocilla and for Guy White in Fitzgerald. He was an Engineer with the Fitzgerald Fire Department, retiring in 2005 after 29 years. Mr. Miller was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and billiards.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Miller of Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason & Cheree Miller and Micheal & Tonya Miller, all of Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; mother, Juanita Miller of Fitzgerald; sisters, Jean Ford of Nashville, Joan Ford of Americus and Judy Hopkins of Lizella; stepsons, Jamie Stone and Joey Stone, both of Abbeville.
