Thomas H. Loo, Sr., 83, of New Bedford, formerly of Fairhaven, died Saturday April 21, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Meline Y. (Wong) Loo.
Born in Canton, China, the son of the late Loo Fook and Shew Shee, he was educated in Fall River, and lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.
Mr. Loo and his late wife were the proprietors of Charlie Wong Restaurant in New Bedford from 1947 until 1985.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Services during World War II.
Survivors include two children, Jadine T. Loo-Dixon of Mattapoisett and Thomas H. Loo, Jr. and his wife Susan of Fairhaven; and five grandchildren, Phillip and Melanie Dixon, and Thomas, Matthew, and Michael Loo.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Unitarian Memorial Church, 102 Green St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
