Obituary

Narcizo "Naz" Cordeiro, 84, of South Dartmouth died at home on Monday November 11, 2002 after a long illness. He was the husband of Hilda Cordeiro, and son of the late Jose and Maria P. (Vieira) Cordeiro.

Mr. Cordeiro was born in New Bedford and had lived in Dartmouth for the past 46 years. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.

He was formerly employed as an office manager at Arkwright Finishing Company in Fall River for 25 years until his retirement.

Mr. Cordeiro served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the American Theater medal, the Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory medal.He loved dancing, gardening, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Bob Cordeiro and his wife Sandy, of Toms River, NJ, Steve Cordeiro and his wife Becky, of Marlboro, and Dave Cordeiro and his wife Donna, of South Dartmouth; a brother, Joseph Cordeiro of San Diego, Cal.; 9 sisters, Anna Ramos, Laura Sylvia, Agnes Burgess, Ezilda Vieira, Margarita Lopes and Helen Quinn, all of New Bedford, Theresa Mendoza of Burbank, Cal., Dorothy Cordeiro of Garden Grove, Cal., and Mary Sylvia of Punta Gorda, Fla.; 6 grandchildren, Susan Murdock of Hudson, Kellie Cordeiro and Brent Cordeiro, both of Dartmouth, Edward Cordeiro of Marlboro, and LeeAnn Cordeiro and Russell Cordeiro, both of Toms River; and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Americo Cordeiro, Michael Cordeiro and Hilda Harriman.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordThursday November 14, 2002 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday November 13, 2002 from 3-7 PM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
