Obituary

George A. Gibson, 89, died at home in Stoughton on Friday, April 20 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Nellie (Revnoff) Gibson. Born in Canton he was a graduate of Canton Schools. Mr. Gibson worked as a Maintenance Worker at J. W. Wood Elastic Web in Stoughton for over 20 years, before his retirement at age 63. Prior to that he worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. He was a former member of the Canton Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed baseball, football gardening and building race cars. His family and friends will miss his humor and quick wit.

He is survived by his two sons, George M. Gibson and his wife Rose of Stoughton and William J. “Buddy” Gibson and his wife Barbara of Fairhaven. He was the brother of Edna Phillips of Stoughton and the late Robert Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Katherine Lowell, Ann Yarush and Dorothy Antinirelli. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, April 23 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Donations in George‘s name may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
