Henry J. “Hank” Constant, 87, of Londonderry, NH, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at his home in Londonderry. Mr. Constant was born in Laconia, NH on October 6, 1919, a son of the late Edmund H. and Mary Mae (Matheux) Constant. He was a longtime resident of Londonderry, formerly living in Laconia and Manchester, NH. Mr. Constant served with the U.S. Army during WWII, earning a Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a bricklayer and had worked for many companies all over the country during his career. Hank was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local #3 and was very proud of having received his 50 year Gold Membership Card. He was still bricklaying at the age of 80. He was a Communicant of St. Jude Parish, Londonderry and a member of the Precious Blood of the League of 1000 Men. Hank was a spiritual and religious man who was also a very hard worker and he took pleasure in helping his neighbors and relatives. He loved animals, especially horses, his cat and his dog, Teddy.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Georgette (Auger) Constant of Londonderry, a step-son, Mark Hamilton of Manchester, a step-daughter, Diane Harrington and her partner Ernie of Manchester, two step-grandchildren, Philip and Holly Harrington of Manchester, two step-great-grandchildren, Adriyana Harrington of Florida and Juliyana Harrington of Manchester, and also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
There will be no calling hours. Following cremation a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial with military honors will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Parish Building Fund, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is in charge of the arrangements.
