Obituary

Irene C. Hogan, 76, of Derry, NH, died Friday, April 20, 2007 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Mrs. Hogan was born in Queens, NY on October 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Mellon) Woodard. She was a resident of Derry for the past 15 years, formerly living in Methuen, MA. Mrs. Hogan was a graduate of Jamaica High School in Jamaica, NY, Class of 1948. She had been employed by Western Electric in N. Andover, MA for 28 years, retiring in 1992 after it became AT & T. Mrs. Hogan was an avid bowler and was a former vice president of the Merrimack Valley Women's Bowling Association. She was also a member of Emeritus. Mrs. Hogan enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching game shows.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Hogan of Lawrence, MA; one son, Glenn Hogan and his wife Kerry of Methuen, MA; two grandchildren, Shaun and Kaitlyn Hogan of Methuen; one step sister, Nancy Bourke and her husband Christopher of Whitehouse Station, NJ; several neices, nephews and cousins; her close friend, Charlotte "Sam" Hassam of Derry with whom she made her home; as well as close friends, Carol and Jack Goulet of Derry. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas W. Hogan who died in 1980, and her two brothers, Charles and William Woodard.
There were no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, April 27th at 10:00am at Holy Cross Church, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry. Graveside services followed in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker St., Lawrence, MA on Friday at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry, NH 03038 or to the Parkland Medical Center, earmarked for cardiology, One Parkland Dr., Derry, NH 03038. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry handled the arrangements.
