Winnisquam-Alfred L. Chase, Jr., 78, of Timothy Drive (P.O. Box 38) died Friday morning, April 20th, 2007 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Meredith, NH on February 9, 1929, he was the son of the late Alfred L. and Bura B. (Heath) Chase. Al had been a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region.
Prior to his retirement Al was employed for over thirty years at the former Scott & Williams as a machinist. Honorably serving his country, Al was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #58 in Belmont, and a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Among Al’s many interests, top on his list was fishing. He also enjoyed motorcycles and was a fan of NASCAR auto racing cheering for #3, Dale Earnhardt and crew.
Besides his parents, Al is predeceased by one sister, Dorothy P. Nipper
Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lorraine P. (Gilman) Chase of Winnisquam; two sons, David A. Chase and his wife Jackie of Belmont, and James S. Chase and his wife Barbara of Sanbornton; two sisters, Viola V. Williams of Rochester, and Geraldine B. Bundy and her husband Walter of Northfield; two grandchildren, Crystal A. Chase of Belmont, and David S. Chase of Northfield. Many nieces and nephews also survive Al.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday April 27th, 2007 at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Gary J. Kosmowski pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial with Military Honors followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. There were no visiting hours.
