Lillian “Libby” (Seigel) Freedman, 88, a longtime resident of Chelsea entered into eternal rest on April 18, 2007 at the Jewish Health Care Center in Worcester, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Freedman was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Freedman who entered into eternal rest in 1993.
Born in Chelsea on March 21, 1919, the daughter of the late Louis and Fannie (Abramovitz) Seigel, Mrs. Freedman was raised and educated in Chelsea, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1935. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Baron Tires in Chelsea for many years. Mrs. Freedman was a member of Temple Ohabei Shalom in Brookline, the auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans – Chelsea Post, and the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Auxiliary. Mrs. Freedman dedicated her life to her beloved children and grandchildren, and was blessed to see her great-granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, Judith Sternbane of Worcester, Kenneth Freedman and his wife Connie of Worcester, and Steven Freedman and his wife Linda of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; her grandchildren, Lawrence, Ben, and Lisa Sternbane, Kristin Freedman, Rachael Hatchett and her husband Jason, and Justin Freedman and his wife Rebecca; and her great-granddaughter Lucy Freedman. Also survived by her daughter-in-law Diana Freedman-Flagg of Newton.
Funeral services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Rabbi Thomas Alpert of Cong. Ohabei Shalom of Brookline will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chevra Thilim of Boston Cemetery, Everett. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Kenneth and Connie Freedman in Worcester on Saturday evening and continuing through Monday evening.
