Obituary

LOWELL—Albert Santamaria, a resident of Lowell since 1949, died unexpectedly, November 7th, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Violet (Kundicz) Santamaria, to whom he was married for 56 years.

He was born in Revere, on January 18, 1912, a son of the late Domenico and Teresa (Iarrobino) Santamaria. He was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1930. He also graduated from the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance, Class of 1936.

Mr. Santamaria served in the United States Army for 3 ½ years during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He had been employed as a Superintendent of Stores by the Massachusetts Electric Company in both Lowell and Andover, for 47 years.

Mr. Santamaria was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of the Longmeadow Golf Club and the American Legion, Post #462. He was also a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #72.

Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law: John D. and Debra Santamaria, of Stoneham; and Carl J. and Virginia Santamaria, of Dracut; a daughter and son-in-law: Charlotte and Whitman Browne, III, of Holbrook; a grandson: Adam J. Santamaria, of Stoneham; a granddaughter: Laura A. Santamaria, of Dracut. Among his many nieces and nephews are: Paula and Franklin Jeffrey, of Revere and Robert and Ellen Santamaria, of Peabody; also two cousins: Genevieve Rowell, of Hyde Park and Paul Nardone, of Chelsea.

He was the brother of the late Ernest, Kay and Millie Santamaria and Rose Norris.

Friends may call on Monday, November 11th, from 4 to 8 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Tuesday, November 12th, at 10:30 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lowell General Hospital; Cancer Care Endowment Fund; 295 Varnum Avenue; Lowell, MA 01854.
