NEW BEDFORD — Freda Heptonstall, age 89 years, of New Bedford, died Friday, April 13, 2007, at New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
Born in Lowell, Ma., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Janet (Chadwick) Heptonstall and lived in this community most of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
For many years she was employed as secretary to the president of New Bedford Institution for Savings Bank.
A member of Grace Episcopal Church, she was active in the church Altar Guild, Episcopal Church Women and a volunteer in the church Food Pantry. Miss Heptonstall was also a member of the Quota Club and a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She was also a member of the Massachusetts Women's Corp during World War II.
She is survived by cousins in England.
Her funeral will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford with friends being received within the hour prior to service. Flowers are welcome or remembrances may be made to Grace Church Memorial Fund, 133 School St., New Bedford, MA 02740, or the charity of one's choice. Burial in Acushnet Cemetery.
