Charles D. Benefield, 56, of Enigma died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Enigma Baptist Church. Rev. Pete Jones will officiate with burial to follow in Enigma Cemetery. Anthony Barnes, J. D. Mullis, Rocky Lott, Jimmy Christman, Faron O'Neal and Jim Lee will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Bowen, Ricky Barnes and Nick Bombardier. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Benefield was born on January 2, 1951 in Fulton County and was the son of Jack Davis Benefield and Annette Lott Benefield, both deceased. He was a member of Enigma Baptist Church and he was disabled.
Mr. Benefield is survived by his wife, Charlene Griffin Benefield of Enigma; two daughters, Mary Powers of Valdosta and Melissa Benefield of Moultrie; three sons, Dwayne Benefield of Enigma, Dwight Benefield of Enigma and Johnny Benefield of Enigma; and nine grandchildren.
