Thurston E. DeBerry, 74, of Dudley, Georgia, died Monday, April 16, at Heartland Hospice in Macon, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M.,Wednesday, April 18, at the Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. DeBerry was born July 6, 1932 in Berrien County, Georgia, to the late Robert and Mattie Lee Spicer DeBerry and was educated in the Irwin County School System. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era and retired from Civil Service as an electronic technician at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins before moving to Dudley. Mr. DeBerry served at Robins Air Force Base from 1957 to 1966 and at Kennedy Space Center from 1966 to 1972 and then back to Robins Air Force Base until his retirement in 1987. Mr. DeBerry was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include, his wife, Laura Anderson DeBerry; daughter, Rhonda DeBerry Rowland of Dudley; son, Robert Alan DeBerry of Bonaire; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Rowland and Elizabeth Ann Rowland of Dudley; sister, Ruth Aycock of Alapaha; brothers, Charles M. DeBerry of Tifton and Elton L. DeBerry of Ocilla; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Jeanette DeBerry Pettis and a brother, James Lester DeBerry.
