Obituary

WORCESTER-Aristula “Toula” (Pappas) Shocas, 85, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2007 while vacationing in Truro, Massachusetts. Toula was born in the village of Agirohori, Greece, and came to Fitchburg as a teenager. She was the daughter of the late Athanasios and Ekaterini (Gikas) Pappas. In 1946, Toula married her beloved husband Arthur, and they began their life in Worcester. They raised five daughters, and they owned Montrose Restaurant for over twenty-five years. Toula and Arthur celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea and Steven Craig, of Hanover, MA, Elaine K. Shocas, of Washington, D.C., Katherine Shocas and Daniel de la Torre, of Worcester, MA, Sandra and James Bazoukas, of Worcester, MA and Maria and Thomas Arms of Ridgefield, CT. She was the loving Yiayia to Michael and Alexis Bazoukas, Alexander Scott, Isabella K. Arms, and step grandchild, Natalia de la Torre. Her only brother Van Pappas pre-deceased her.

Toula most enjoyed spending time with her family who are eternally grateful for her love and selfless generosity. Toula was an excellent cook and baker, and she regularly supplied her daughters, their friends and her grandchildren with Greek foods and pastries including her famous spinach and cheese triangles. She also loved gardening and crafts, especially crocheting.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 19th, from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with service at 11:00 A.M in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday April 18th from. 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
