TEWKSBURY - Stephen D. Dellavolpe, age 96, died Sunday, April 15, at the Tewksbury Hospital after a three year period of declining health. He was the husband for over 50 years of Carmela A. (Benevento) Dellavolpe, who also died on April 15th, 19 years ago.
He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, a son of the late Emelio and Marietta (Cacciola) Dellavolpe. He served stateside in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was honorably discharged in 1943. He had lived in Hamden the greater part of his life. As a resident of Hamden, he was a communicant of The Blessed Sacrament Church.
He is survived by his loving daughter Carol and her husband Raymond Sanzone of Holliston, MA; four grandchildren, Carrie Parks and her husband John of Northboro, MA, Raymond D. Sanzone Jr. and his wife Jane of West Redding, CT, Stephen Sanzone of Boston, Charles Sanzone and his wife Deirdre of Northboro, MA; seven great grandchildren, Hayley, Raye, J.C., Marley, John, Carson and Charlie; his brother and sister-in-law, Mel Volpe and his wife Adele of Hamden. He was also predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Hamden, CT, in late Spring. At his request visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tewksbury Hospital, Patient Recreation Fund, c/o Administration, 365 East St. Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
