Obituary

Arnold L. Leriche Sr. of Derry, New Hampshire and a former longtime resident of Salem, New Hampshire died Saturday morning at his home, he was 80 years old.

He was born in Haverhill, MA and attended schools in Salem, NH. Mr. Leriche was a building contractor in Salem and surrounding towns for over 40 years and was one of the founding members of the Salem Contractors Association.

As a veteran he served his country during WW II in the US Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion, Ernest W. Young Post # 63 in Salem, NH, he was a former member of the Salem Planning Board, he served as Selectman for the town of Salem, NH in the early 1960’s, he was a member of the Salem Housing Authority, and a member of the New Hampshire Housing Commission.

He served as the Chairman of New Hampshire Eminent Domain, owned and operated and built several Dairy Queen Shop’s in both New Hampshire and in Maine. He was very active in the Gubernatorial Elections for the former Governor of New Hampshire, Meldrim Thomson.

He was also known for his every day duties at the One Stop Retail Shoppe in Salem, and currently he was employed at Home Depot in Salem, NH.

Mr. Leriche was a member of the 1st Congregational Church in Salem where he served as a Trustee and Deacon.

2 Daughters, JoAnne and Tom Porter of Salem, NH

Cheryl and Dean Maxwell of Roswell, GA

2 Brothers, Robert Leriche of Salem, NH and

Russell Leriche of Columbus, Ohio

3 sisters, Helen Conley and Barbara Chisolm of Salem, NH &

Dorothy Hebert of Londonderry, NH

Grandchildren, Amy Coffaro & her husband Tony, Tom Porter & his wife Conny Alexander and Adrienne Leriche, Emily & Olivia Maxwell

2 great granddaughters, Victoria & Sydney and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem, NH.

A memorial service will be Wednesday @ 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Church, 15 Lawrence Rd. in Salem. The family request donations be made to the restoration fund C/O the 1st Congregational Church.
