Obituary

Walter J. Szelag, 82, of North Dartmouth died April 15, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the son of the late Jozef and Mary A. (Kosiba) Szelag.
Mr. Szelag was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He had lived in Dartmouth since 1963.
Mr. Szelag was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth, and a former communicant of St. Hedwig Church in New Bedford. He was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River.
Mr. Szelag was formerly employed with National Airlines of New York for several years, British Airlines in Boston, Pelletier Travel and later owned and operated Moby Dick Travel before retiring from Crown Travel.
He was a founding member of the T.E.D. Club, an extensive traveler and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Szelag was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1943.
Survivors include a brother, Tadeusz J. Szelag of Dartmouth; a sister, Josephine B. Brownell of Middletown, RI; and several cousins.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Wednesday, April 18th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, April 17th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
