Mary Elizabeth Brown Carothers, age 73 of Water Valley, MS died on April 14, 2007 in the Baptist Memorial Hospital N-MS in Oxford, Ms following a lengthy illness. Mary Lib was a retired secretary in the family owned business, Carothers Construction, and a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a very kind and gracious lady. The daughter of the late Lloyd Brown and Gladys Shaw Brown, she was born in Water Valley. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received a major in English and a minor in French. Mary Lib served on the Water Valley Library Board for ten years. She was a member of the Water Valley Junior Auxiliary, The Garden Club of Water Valley and a member of the Bridge Club . Mrs. Carothers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Water Valley.
Visitaton will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Sunday evening, April 15, 2007 from 5:00 until 8:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 4:00 PM at The First Baptist Church of Water Valley with Dr. Randy Bain and Bro. Hal Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Browning Cemetery in Lafayette County. Serving as pallbearers are Lee McMinn, Wayne Harris, M. B. "Snooky" Williams, Charles Rogers, Jerry Veazey and Harry Amos. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Joe Walker, Brownie Crawford and Dr. Paul Odom.
Surviving Mrs. Carothers are her husband, Arnold Wayne Carothers of Water Valley, MS; daughter Ginny LoCoco and husband Joe of D’Iberville, MS; son Sean B. Carothers and wife Christy of Taylor, MS. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Elizabeth Frances LoCoco, Joseph Anthony LoCoco, Nick LoCoco, Kevyn Carothers and Zac Carothers.
