Obituary


Bruce D. Butts, 85 of Naples FL. and Middleborough, died suddenly after a morning of golf on April 8th .He was the husband of Janice (Brown) Butts and the late Lolita (Blood) Butts.

Bruce was born and bought up in West Bridgewater, son of the late John and Viola (Oot) Butts, a graduate of West Bridgewater High School, and Clarkson University.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was a pilot instructor during WWII. He also flew missions later in the war as Captain of a B29 out of Guam.

Bruce was employed by Texas Instruments as an engineer and then manager, retiring in 1985.During his 32 years a Texas Instruments, Bruce was most proud of inventing a rod and tube thermostat for home appliances, such as electric frying pans, hat is still in use today. While at Texas instruments he was the site designer and over saw construction of Building 12 at the Attleboro facility; which became affectionately known as the “BUTTS’BUILDING”.

He is survived by his loving wife Janet (Brown) Butts, his daughters Debra Pond, of Lincoln, ME., Holly Peruzzo of Lakeville; his step daughters Sandra Lucca of East Bridgewater, and Susan Cotter of Middleborough; his daughter in law of Cheryl Butts of San Carlos, CA.; his brother of Lyle M. butts of Wellfleet; 6 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren ;also his nephew Lyle Butts of Wellfleet.

His visiting hours will be held Thursday April 19th 4:00-7:00 P.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Services and burial will be private, at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the Bruce Butts Memorial, Glades Gift /Memorial Fund, Glades Country Club, 174 Teryl Rd. , Naples, FL. 34112.
