John J. Colangeli passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on April 10, 2007. He was 86 years old.
John was a life-long resident of Malden. He was a member of the Malden Catholic High School Hall of Fame, 1939, the V.F.W., the Italian American Citizens Club, the American Legion and the ITAM clubs, all of Malden. He had retired from the Malden Fire Department after 32 years of service and had also served as a police officer with the Malden Police Department for a short time. John was also a late U.S. Navy Veteran having served during WWII with the rank of Signalman 3rd Class.
Preceded in death by his wife, the late Hazel (Jeddrie) Colangeli, John is survived by his son, John “Jack” Colangeli, Deputy Chief of the Malden Fire Department. He was the dear brother of Fred Colangeli and the late Joseph, Emery, Vincent, George and Janet Colangeli and Theresa DeAvilla. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Saturday, April 14th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Friday, April 13th from 4-8 p.m. Interment Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
