Julia (Gilmette) Gracia, 87, of Marion, formerly of New Bedford, died Tuesday April 10, 2007 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George Gracia, to whom she was married for 48 years.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joaquim and Virginia (Raymond) Gilmette, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Gracia was a former member of the YWCA Senior Citizens and the St. Martin dePorres Guild.
Survivors include three children, Virginia Santos and her husband John, Julie Gomes and her husband Raymond, and George Gracia, Jr., all of New Bedford; two brothers, Matthew Gilmette of New Bedford and Joaquim Gilmette of Falmouth; two sisters, Rose Ramos of Leicester and Anna Monteiro of Brockton; her daughter-in-law, Marie Gracia of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Mark Santos, great-great-grandmother of the late Chante Gracia, and sister of the late Joseph Gilmette, Raymond Gilmette,Virginia Gilmette, Evelyn Monteiro, and Mary Pina.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
