Isabella A. Bacon, 96, formerly of Cumberland, entered into eternal life with family at her side, Saturday at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late George J. Bacon, Sr.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Eva (Dufresne) Armstrong. She was raised in Woonsocket, and lived in Cumberland for many years.
Mrs. Bacon worked for the Rochambeau Worsted Co., and several other textile firms in the area, for many years.
She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, and playing the organ. She took particular delight in designing clothes for herself and family members. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church.
Isabella gave of herself in many ways, and volunteered her time helping friends and neighbors, inlucding donating her services as hairstylist.
She is survived by a son, George J. Bacon, Jr., of Florida, two daughters, Lorraine C. Phoenix, and her husband Ernie, of New Jersey, and Paulette L. Bacon-Gilbert, of Arlington, MA. She was the sister of Roger Armstrong, of Oregon, and the late Walter, Adam, and Raymond Armstrong, Stella Armstrong, Violet Soltys, and Lucille Vanasse. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 am from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Antoine Chapel, 10 Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:30 am prior to Mass.
