Wayne A. Strawderman of Ledyard died on Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born on October 11, 1936 in Wakefield, RI to the late Robert L. and Alida Dow Strawderman.
A graduate of Westerly High School in 1954, he also had BS and MS degrees from the University of Rhode Island and a PHD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
Following employment at E.I. duPont and Electric Boat, he worked for 31 years at the Naval Underwater Systems Center. Membership in the Acoustical Society of America led to his election as a Fellow in 1986. He was also a former member of Local 285, American Federation of Musicians.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Lamb); daughter Su, her husband, Carl Talley and daughter, Hanna of Glastonbury; son, Paul of Bristol and his fiancé, Mary Silvia of Narragansett, RI. Also brother, Robert and wife Kay of Bradford, RI and William and his wife Susan of Belle Mead, NJ. Also surviving are his best friends, Maggie and Blackie.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Saturday from 9:30-11:30am. Services will be private for the family.
