LOWELL- Rita C. (Spellissy) Wojkowski, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Wednesday evening, April 4th, at the Greenbriar Health Care Facility, in Nashua, NH.
She was the born in Lowell, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Catherine (Galvin) (Fahey) Spellissy. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School, Keith Hall, and Lowell Commercial College.
Mrs. Wojkowski has been employed as the Assistant to the Controller at Fort Devens, in Ayer, for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church and held membership in the Holy Rosary Sodality of that parish, the League of Catholic Women, the Poor Clare Guild, and the National Association of Federal Employees, Local Chapter 360. She was also a co-apostle of the Rev. Edward McDonough Healing and Restoration Ministry.
Surviving her are a grandson: Justin Wojkowski, of Pittsburg, CA; two granddaughters: Kristin Wojkowski, of San Francisco; and Gretchen Gagnon, and her husband Chris, of Hudson, NH; two great-granddaughters: Irene and Iris Castillo, of San Francisco; two great grandsons: Michael and Sean Gagnon of Hudson, NH; a daughter-in-law: Susan (Griess) Wojkowski, of Lawrence, CA; also many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Michael J. Wojkowski, and sister of the late: Nancy Spellissy, Veronica Spellissy, James Fahey, John Fahey, Mary Doyle, Joseph Spellissy, Catherine Camacho, Bernard Spellissy, and Thomas Spellissy.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 11th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered on Thursday, April 12th, at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
