Howard W. Lothrop, 73, died in Florida, April 6th at the Brooksville Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the former husband of Jean (Britton) Lothrop of Bridgewater.
Born and brought up in East Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Clyde and Mabel (Cone) Lothrop. He attended East Bridgewater Schools,
Howard was a veteran of the United States Air force, during the Korean conflict.
He worked at Thayer Scale then, Mutron Company as an electronics assembly foreman for 31years.
He loved panning for gold. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America and Lost Dutchmen’s Mining Association.
As an amateur archeologist, Howard unearthed old arrow heads in the East Bridgewater area.
He also enjoyed dancing, roller skating boating and loved his garden.
In addition to his former wife, he leaves 2 sons and a daughter; Doug Lothrop of Middleboro, Howard Lothrop, Jr., of West Bridgewater and Dorothy Lamoureux of Bridgewater; also 5 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.He was also the brother of the late Brad Lothrop.
His Funeral will be held Friday April 13th at 11:00 A.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater, MA .Visiting hours Thursday April 12th 4-8 P.M. Donations may be made in his name to the Charity of One’s Choice.
