Joyce M. (Wignall) Menard, 72, of New Bedford died Sunday April 8, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leonard J. Menard.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Esther (Perry) Barker of New Bedford and the late Herbert Wignall, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Menard was formerly employed as a cook at New Bedford High School and Roosevelt Junior High School for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed knitting, baking, and attending family get-togethers.
Survivors include her mother; three children, Cathy A. Aresta and Sally A. Wheeler and her husband Gerald B. Wheeler Jr., all of New Bedford, and Andrew E. Menard and his wife Lisa of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Kathryn Lussier of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Justin Williams, Kelsey Williams, Kallie Lima, and Jayson Lima, a Fireman Engineer with the U.S. Navy, stationed in Bangor, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Leonard J. Menard Jr., and mother-in-law of the late Carlos Aresta.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by a Graveside Service at 11 AM in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, April 10th from 5-8 PM.
