Obituary

Thomas E. Devlin Jr. 51, died Friday April 6, 2007 at his home with his wife and family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Patricia L. “Trish” (King) Devlin.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island May 10, 1955 a son of former Blackstone selectman Thomas E. Devlin Sr. and Margaret (Maloney) Devlin of Blackstone, he was raised and educated in Blackstone and had lived in Franklin for the past 22 years.
He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Police Academy, and until becoming disabled from complications of an on the job injury, worked as a Boston College police officer and EMT from 1983 to 2004. He was a recipient of the Massachusetts Association of Colleges and Universities Public Safety Association Special Recognition Award for special efforts in law enforcement and contributions to the professionalism of campus police.
He was an avid bicyclist and with fellow Boston College police officers, participated in bike-a-thons for many charities. He loved to read and was a history buff who was especially interested in the Cival War. He and his wife celebrated their 20th anniversary last June.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents is his daughter Christine Warren of Franklin, a brother Michael F. Devlin of Blackstone, 2 sisters Catherine Gongoleski and her husband Gregory of North Smithfield, RI., Mary Wright and her husband Robert of Mahopac, New York, several nieces and nephews. He was the son in law of Howard F. and Anne (Sullivan) King of Franklin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday April 10th, 2007 at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.oterifuneral.com) with a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 9AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday April 9th, 2007 from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
