Edward A. LeVangie of East Walpole, formerly of Dedham, died April 6, 2007, in his 90th year at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill, with his family by his side. The youngest and last survivor of the close knit family of 10 children of William Patrick and Flora LeVangie of Dedham, formerly of Nova Scotia. He was the Beloved husband of Irene (Markevich) LeVangie for 64 years.
Born in Dedham, he was a graduate of Dedham High School, Norfolk County Agricultural School, Franklin Institute, Boston and Diesel School, Albany, NY. Eddie was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II and fought in the first wave of the invasion of Normandy. His display of hand built models of much of the USN invasion fleet and equipment is on permanent exhibition in the D-Day Room of the battleship.
Devoted father of Jean I. LeVangie of East Walpole, Richard E. LeVangie of Norton and Robert A. LeVangie Penobscot, ME. Devoted grandfather of Rowan Thomas LeVangie of Penobscot, ME. Also survived by his nephew and good friend, Peter LeVangie of Dedham and 6 nieces and nephews in Mass, Conn, Ohio, Virginia and Florida. Brother of the late William, Richard, Leo and Joseph LeVangie, Loretta Barnes, Mae Coffin, Katherine MacDonald, Gertrude “Dolly” Heikkila and Elizabeth “Pinky” Reinfeld.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, on Wednesday at 8:00 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation prior to the mass from 8:00-8:45 AM. Interment private. Donations in his name may be made to the USS Massachusetts Memorial Committee, P.O.
